Project Huia - personal responce

This books genre is adventure and science fiction because grandpop Jim, Logan and Ana try to re-create the Huia using cloning technology. It is science fiction because the try to clone a Huia.

Damon flew into the gorge. They were trying to find the spot. Suddenly a beam of bright green light hits the pilot in the eyes. If green light was all Damon could see, they would hit the gorge wall and explode. Battling an evil family and a jinx, a family tries to find a body of a Huia...

My favourite part was when they finally, after ages of recording and researching, they SPOILER ALERT find SPOILER ALERT the Huia (That was the spoiler) and find SPOILER ALERT EGGS!!!!!!!

Stig of the dump - personal responce

This books Genre is adventure because Barney goes on adventures with his friend Stig who lives in a big rubbish dump.

In this book, Barney falls into the dump. At the bottom he meets a person called Stig. Stig lives in a cave and uses things that people have thrown away.

My favourite part was Barney making a window out of jars and a chimney out of cans. They put them in Stigs cave to let light in and so there was light.

I recommend this book to anyone who likes cavemen!!!

I really liked this book and it made me feel happy.

The Real Art Roadshow

Today we went to the real art roadshow. It was a truck that tours around the country and folds out into an art gallery. Today when we went there was lots of art.

There was over seventy pieces of art and only one artist did two, the others only did one. The types of art changed from models and three-dimensional art to two-dimensional flat paintings. 

They were all done quite recently and they were awesome. The paintings were done with lots of different materials.

My favorite piece of art was Deep Freeze. It was a mountain painted blue, white, purple, green and yellow. The mountain had a glacier and a river at the bottom and a hill with plants.

I also liked Blood red Spectrum. It was almost black to pink, shifting through red. It was a three-dimensional block and it was really cool!

CRAFTING

1. First access your crafting table with wood and place it in the four squares and turn it into planks.
2. Second put one plank into each square and an odd shape will come out, this is a crafting table. It is useful and will make probably anything

3. to make sticks put to wood planks on top of each other like this. Sticks will come in handy but don’t try to take on a creeper with it

4. To make a pickaxe, put 3 wood planks on the top row and 2 sticks on the bottom like this: A pick will mine stone and coal but not ores like iron, gold, diamond, emerald or lapis lazuli

5. To make a sword put one stick on the bottom with two planks on top of them. This can defend you and is good in combat

6. To make a house build an L shape into a cliff. block up the entrance but leave one block open to see when day comes.

7. Your house is probably dark. Be warned. Monsters can spawn anywhere dark. To light it up make torches out of coal. Coal is stone with black dots in it. Mine it with your pick and get a lump of coal. Go to your crafting table and put it on a stick like this

8. To make a bed (OPTIONAL) put 3 wood on the bottom row of a crafting table and 3 wool (any colour) above it. To get wool kill a sheep and it will drop one piece of wool.

9. If you don’t have a bed, you will have to fight the monsters or make tools. When making your house you should have cobblestone and replace the wood on tools to have stronger tools. Here are the recipes.

12. You might have to fight monsters. There are skeletons, zombies, spiders deadly creepers, witches and rare endermen. The next part is about survival against monsters.

SURVIVAL

1. Zombies are the easiest to kill and just repeatedly hit them until they die. They drop rotten flesh and rarely drop Iron tools and potatoes and carrots. They will burn at daytime but water will stop them.

2. Skeletons Have Bows and will shoot you so be fast and hit them quickly and retreat, hit retreat. They will burn at daytime but water will stop them. They will drop bones, arrows and will rarely drop bows.

3. Creepers and spiders are harder to kill because they can move around a lot and have more agility. Creepers are sneaky they live up to there name, creeping around before they kill you, by blowing up. The best way to kill them is to hit them with well timed blows of a sword. If you kill them you get gunpowder. Creepers don’t die at day and can swim and climb ladders.

4. Spiders can climb and will be hostile at day. They will try to climb over walls and attack. They have a venomous bite. They are harder than zombies. To kill one do skeleton method of hit retreat. Try to get the higher ground. This will stop a spider pouncing to your level.
5. The spider has a rare cousin that you will not find but I will put the image in

6. You will not have to worry about witches but if you see one run away. It will try to make you slow, weak, use a potion called instant harming and poison.

7. Watch out for endermen, a 3 metre tall black person. They are neutral until attacked and they will go crazy, teleporting and hitting you until you die. My cousin tried to kill an enderman with his fist. EPIC FAIL!!! An endermans secret weapon is to teleport. They are rare.*

Main stars - bug hunt

Today I went on a bug hunt. It was windy so there was no flying bugs like butterfly's. First me and Billie looked in the plants and tried to find caterpillars slugs and snails. We found some snails and we took a photo of them. Here it is:

 

 

Next we went to find some more bugs. We looked and we didn't find anything. We looked and looked. Then we threw a rock over and there was a dead spider. Here is a picture. The black dot is the spider.

 

 

 

 

Finally we looked under some rocks and we found heaps and heaps and heaps and heaps and heaps and heaps and heaps of SLATERS. They were scurrying all over the rocks and Billie yelled. They were easy to take photos of because there was so many of them. Here is a photo of them.

 



 

These are the bugs I saw today. Usually I see more bugs like white butterfly's, slugs and caterpillars. I think the reason is it was too windy and Mum has put down slug and snail poison.

Percy Jackson and the battle of the labyrinth - pesonal responce

This book's genre is adventure because Annabeth, Percy, Tyson and Grover go into an ancient labyrinth to find a special string... before Luke finds it and invades the camp and destroy it!
 
In this book, camp half blood is going to be invaded if Luke can find a special string that will guide them through so Annabeth, Percy, Tyson and Grover go into the maze to find the string before Luke...

My favourite part was SPOILER ALERT when it was 80 half bloods vs. Luks monster army. The half bloods win, just...

Main star - weekly meal plan

TODAY IS MY LAST MEAL! (YAY)

Today WAS MY LAST MEAL. It was the hardest one LASAGNE. (I DEYLAYED IT FROM YESTERDAY) To make the lasagne we had to make two types of sauce, meat and cheese. To make the meat sauce simply prep vegetables: they are carrot, onion, garlic, celery and parsley. Then blend them and boil with mince. (it is actually a quarter meat sauce)
To make the lasagne layer up the sauce and lasagne sheets. Be fast. Pasta disintegrates in hot things fast. Cook in oven for 40 minutes and enjoy!
Making the meals were fun! I enjoyed cooking them but it is good to not have too cook for ages.

This was my last meal!!!!

Cooking a Meal - Mainstar

Today I was supposed to cook lasagne. Lasagne takes a long time too cook. BUT Sea keas was on so Billie had to go at five thirty so I had schnitzel BUT it had no breadcrumbs on it so we had to make stir fry vegetables. They were delicious. We used some vegetables from our garden. The vegetables were: Green capsicum, yellow capsicum, spinach, carrot and broccoli. There was rice and meat in it too. The spinach and carrot was from our garden. It was so yummy.

Cooking bacon and egg pie

Today for breakfast we had toast platter. The flavours were marmite, honey, jam and peanut butter. The toast platter was easy to make.

For lunch I made sushi. The flavours were tuna capsicum carrot, chicken capsicum carrot, tuna capsicum, chicken capsicum, tuna carrot, chicken carrot, chicken. These were the flavours. The best one was plain chicken.

For Dinner I cooked bacon and egg pie. Here is the recipe
1. crack about 8 eggs and whisk and put in tray.
2. slice up bacon and put in with the eggs
3. put pastry over tray and cook for half an hour
4. ENJOY

Breakfast, lunch and dinner were delicious!
I learnt that it is harder than it looks to make dinner.

SALAD SHORTAGE!!

Today I cooked Haloumi cheese cakes and eggs. We also had leftover garlic (herb) bread from last nights WHITEBAIT and salads and herb bread. Badly we are already short on apples and carrots. last night I didn't have to cook because Poppa and My cousin Jaxon came and it would throw off my meal plan.

Percy Jackson and the titans curse

This books genre is adventure because Percy goes on a quest to find Annabeth and Artemis, goddess of the hunt, who have been captured by the titan lord, Atlas.

In this book, Annabeth and Artemis get taken by monsters and a quest is formed. On the quest the people brave huge danger, will they survive?

My favourite chapter is "The gods vote on how to kill me" it is very funny and very serious because after Thalia leaves half blood and joins the hunters...

SATAY CHICKEN:

Today I am making satay chicken. So far it is going great and everything is cooking great. This is the recipe:

1. Wash the potatoes and cut them up.
2. Put potatoes in oven tray and put in oven with chicken.
3. Cut up onions and garlic and fry them, put them in a blender and keep them to the side
4. To make the satay sauce, put peanut butter with oil and soya sauce and add stock cube in hot water with chutney and curry powder.
5. Put the onions in the satay mix and put in a pan.
6. Use the sauce to coat the chicken.
7. Dish up with potatoes and salad.
8. ENJOY!

Today I have been shopping at countdown (countback) grocery shop for my main star meal plan. The shopping went faster than I thought. Finally we finished shopping and had everything and we needed to wait for the checkout. About a week ago I made my meal plan and with everything, we predicted it was going to be close to $180 so that WAS MY BUDGET! I really wanted to know if I had made or broken my budget. Finally I found it out what the price was. It was... 171!!!! I had made my budget!!

That was easy, there was still cooking it...

On my plan, the first meal was, lemon pepper fish but we had to slightly modify because my fish was smoked salmon, so I decided that it would be with my peas and my potatoes. Right now the potatoes are cooking so I had the chance to do this blog post. Tomorrow is chicken...

Percy Jackson and the sea of monsters

This books genre is adventure because Percy Jackson, Annabeth and Tyson the Cyclops try to find the golden fleece, hidden on an island, deep in the sea of monsters, or as we call, the Bermuda triangle!


In camp half blood, there is huge danger, the magical pine tree, made after a fierce warrior was killed, which protects them has been poisoned and the camp threatens to be invaded by big monsters. The only thing that can help in the golden fleece and they go looking for it. They run into danger but is rescued by Clarisse, on an ironclad, sailed by skeleton confederates. They resume there journey but run into more danger...


My favourite part was the battle between Polyphemus the Cyclops, Percy and Tyson. Percy almost got hit with a huge olive tree. He said it would have turned him into a Percy pizza with extra olives. I also liked it when they steal blackbeards ship, Queen Anne's Revenge after escaping from the magician Circe.

In Christchurch

In the holidays Me, Dad, Billie and Mum drove to Christchurch. On the drive it snowed. We reckon it was awesome because it was basically sea level. On the first day we went to riccaton small (mall) for lunch. I had salmon and avocado sushi. In the evening we went to the rugby, Canterbury vs. Tasman. Tasman won 38 - 10. That was good. The next day we went to riccaton small and I had (better)salmon and avocado sushi. We went shopping for what felt like 3 years. It was probably 3 hours. we were going to go to the arcade but it was too busy. GOOD! Now I could go to the gem show. I had about 25 dollars to spend on gems. I wanted a cheap semi-precious stone. About halfway through I saw what I wanted:  an under-priced nice stone. Try to guess what it was: it was blue, in paint it is called ultramarine an amazing (and my favourite) shade of deep blue. If you guessed lapis lazuli you are right! Only 20 dollars! Tomorrow Billie will get her treatment and Mums eyes will be tested. The day after that we will go home. (I will miss the salmon sushi) Some more big news: Dad has a pod coffee machine which can make hot chocolate! to make things better it is avalanche: my favourite! I had one. They are SO chocolaty and rich (I want one!)
