Staying Home - personal responce

When the influenza pandemic arrives in the North Island of the country, the remote town of Hansen is isolated. For twelve year old Zac and his family, this will be a struggle. Soon, they will run out of food. There will be no electricity, no internet and they will have only themselves as company... When the pandemic continues, it sets off a chain reaction of events, which help him discover the true death of his father when he was hiking in the Mount Aspen National Park...

I really, really enjoyed this book. I recommend it to anyone who likes realistic fiction books that have a bit of adventure.

Random Tuesday Descriptive Writing

A small, blackened thing was appearing in the distance. It was surrounded by thick bushy leaves. The closer I was the more I could make out its shape. The smell of mould and mildew was obvious the closer I came to the mysterious shape. As I got nearer to the weird object I realized what it was... ...it was a BATHTUB! an old, mouldy, ripped, leaf filled bathtub! With nothing better to do I turned the tap. The sound of metal on metal filled the quiet air. A few seconds later a trickle of ex-stagnant water flowed out of the tap. It had a distinctive green hue. Then I looked around myself. It looks like a badly looked after bathroom. I notice a broken switch on the wall. CLICK!. The globes on the ceiling burst into light. Not old, hot incandescent light but new, cool Blue, LED light. Then I get the strange feeling that I'm being watched...

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

During the Summer holidays  Ron and Hermione come to Harry's house on Privet Drive and save him from the Dursleys to watch the final of the quidditch world cup (Bulgaria VRS Ireland) . When Harry returns to Hogwarts, their quidditch has been cancelled to make way for the triwizard tournament. Harry is shocked that quidditch has been cancelled, more shocked to find out that it was previously been cancelled because of fatalities and even more shocked to find 2 other schools are arriving, including a student called Viktor Krum who is also the seeker for the Bulgarian quidditch team and is most shocked when his name gets called out to be the fourth champion in a 3 wizard tournament. Something very suspicious is going on...

I really enjoyed reading this book, but like all Harry Potter books it is quite long and a bit waffle-ly. However, I enjoyed reading this book like I have just said, and would rate this book 4 out of 5 stars.

Diary of a whimpy kid Hard Luck

Greg is having a lot of trouble with 3 of his 4 aunts coming and the fact that his best friend, and sidekick, Rowley has a girlfriend and has dumped Greg. When Easter arrives his family are reunited but a missing diamond ring worth millions is lost and the family is torn over it, each member trying to find it. At school, he is having a hard time getting through the struggle of schoolwork. With the help of a lucky 8 ball, Greg is making progress until his luck takes a turn for the worst...
I would rate this book 5/5 because it is soooo funny. My favourite part was when Greg tried to stop making himself laugh. Read the book to find out why...
