Recycled AND Colin Goes Bush Personal Responces

IMPORTANT NOTE! Colin Goes Bush is a Sequel to Recycled!

These books are both written by Sandy McKey and are both realistic fiction. They are about a boy called Colin and his adventures with recycling...

Recycled

When Colin's new teacher starts talking about recycling, Colin tries to save the world from rubbish... By making sure nothing is thrown away and everything is recycled. When he learns the recycling plant is shutting down, he decides to organise a protest march to protect it... but his parents are no help. His Mum is selling properties and flying hang gliders and his Dad can't make a lawnmower work. When he learns what property she is selling things take a turn for the worst.

Colin Goes Bush.

Colin's teacher has left and started a recycling club. His new teacher is obsessed with running and that has nothing to do with saving the environment. When he learns a spot of old Kauri is going to be cut down he knows he must act. But his parents are acting weird. His Mum is getting texts from 'suitman' and Dad keeps going to a café run by someone called 'Claire'. He thinks something fishy is going on...

Matariki

Matariki is also known as the constellation Pleiades. Pleiades means dove in Greek because the seven sisters were turned into doves. The seven sisters is another name for Matariki because Matariki has Seven stars. The stars are all blue giants. In Maori stories, Matariki means eyes of god. One story says that the god of wind ripped out his eyes and they became the stars.

Matariki goes from the night sky in may. In June it rises. When it rises it is the Maori new year.  This signals it is time to plant new crops and that the hunting season is nearly over.

Holes - Personal Responce

When Stanley Yelnats steals Clyde Livingstone's shoes he is in big trouble. He thinks its because of a curse given to him by his
No-good-dirty-rotten-old-pig-stealing-great-great-grandfather, He is sent to camp green lake where he must dig holes, holes and more holes. It is very dangerous because of the rattlesnakes and spiders. But worst of all is the yellow spotted lizard. It has eleven spots, if you live long enough to count them. Other dangers include Mr Sir and Mr Pendanski, and the dreaded Warden. The Warden says that digging holes is a good way to get fit, really The Warden is trying to get her hands on something...

I REALLY LOVED THIS BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I reckon everyone in the class should read it because it is so good!

Author: Louis Sachar
Genre: Realistic fiction

Team Time

Because I did all my homework I got onto team time. We had a shared lunch and I brought in sausage rolls and chocolate rice bubble cupcakes. I also brought the game Jurassic wars and played that with Dillon, Matthew, Mackenzie and Sam. I won and the Dromeosaurus was the best dinosaur. Later I played Cluedo and Mackenzie proved he was the killer!

I quite like homework how it is. The only thing I would like to change is basic facts. I would like them a little harder so I could do long multiplication as that is what I am learning.
