Frog Wistle mine

When Tony arrives in Charleston, a ghost mining town, he wants to belong there. He lives in a caravan with some wekas. He decides to call them the butcher family because they are rodent killers. He hopes is Mum will stay in Charleston. In the place he stays, he finds one of the workers where he lives has a mine called frog whistle mine. He, his friend Rose and a Geologist go to the mine. There, in the mine is a uranium grotto. Then he meets a local called Duggan who seems to have sinister plans involving the uranium, but a big shock is on the way, literally.

Project Huia - Personal Responce

"She fell from the air, her wings no more use than a ripped parachute..."

After the huia feather craze, when thousands had been shot and they were presumed extinct, one has been spotted by Jim and Mavis, two siblings in the Te Apati Gorge. Being driven away from their house by tuis the siblings follow the huia. To follow it they take a jigger through the tunnels. Half way through Jim and Mavis hear the roar of an oncoming train. That was 40 years ago. Now Jim and his grandson Logan are trying to find the last huia.

If you liked Jurassic World READ THIS BOOK!!! It is about using DNA to create life from an extinct creature.

Project Huia - personal responce

This books genre is adventure and science fiction because grandpop Jim, Logan and Ana try to re-create the Huia using cloning technology. It is science fiction because the try to clone a Huia.

Damon flew into the gorge. They were trying to find the spot. Suddenly a beam of bright green light hits the pilot in the eyes. If green light was all Damon could see, they would hit the gorge wall and explode. Battling an evil family and a jinx, a family tries to find a body of a Huia...

My favourite part was when they finally, after ages of recording and researching, they SPOILER ALERT find SPOILER ALERT the Huia (That was the spoiler) and find SPOILER ALERT EGGS!!!!!!!

The Peco Indecent - Personal response

This book is adventure because two boys are trying to save albatrosses and penguins in Dunedin and the gun tunnels.

A disease has reached the egg farm, peco and is spreading fast. At first people blame the owner of the egg farm, but there is two tourists who always seem to be there when there is trouble, and the rare penguins and albatrosses could become extinct... 

My favorite part was when the two boys were crawling through the gun tunnel of taiora head in Dunedin...
My favorite character was Nick, who figured out the problem with the albatrosses.
